We all know that YouTube is on its way to being a rival to TikTok. The company keeps upgrading its YouTube Shorts quality and frequently launches a new Shorts feature. YouTube creators can now turn their longer content into Shorts with the “Edit into a Short” feature. Here are all the details.
“Edit into a Short” feature for YouTube Shorts creators
This is a big step for YouTube to be a successful platform like TikTok. With the new update, YouTube Shorts may have attracted people further than earlier. However, the application is still known as a long video platform, and it is hard to change that in people’s minds.
YouTube helps users with this feature to cut 60-second clips from their existing long-form videos and easily create new content for YouTube Shorts. Vadim Lavrusik, creation product lead, said, “We want to empower creators to easily take a moment from one of their VODs [videos-on-demand], bring it into our tools, and easily edit it into an engaging Short for their viewers.”
The company announced the “Edit into a Short” feature in a post on Thursday. It should reach all mobile users in the next few weeks if you don’t have it yet. The tool is only available for the YouTube app on iOS and Android devices. Lavrusik added, ” To use this feature, all creators need to do is to navigate to their channel and choose a video they’d like to Edit into a Short.”
Creators also could add additional content to their Shorts if the clip is shorter than the 60-second maximum length to record a YouTube Short video. Users also have editing features such as filters, text, and more. When you create a short video from your longer videos, YouTube will automatically put a link back to the original long-form video.
